    Hi all!!
    I am so glad that I found you on the internet and really hope you can answer my question. I have an Asiga Pico 3D printer and everything about it is super-cool except….the resin. It is extremely expensive – approx. $500 for 500ml. The thing is it’s not very „stable“ and tends to separate rather quickly. What I want to know is do these resins really have a „shelf-life“ or can one just mix it up good again to re-use? I live in South Africa and am not sure who I can contact about trying to get the resin at a more reasonable price.
    I would appreciate any and all advice you can offer. ( If possible would you reply directly to my email address?)

    Hi Sandra,
    your printer works with an UV led and either an dlp or a lcos chip on the inside. I couldn’t find detailed specs (asiga.com is down also), but standard dlp and lcos panels have a short lifetime exposed to radiation much lower than 405nm, so it’s probably somewhere round 405nm or possibly higher (up to 445nm). Therefore I doubt that the Buck Mix (cures <370nm) described here will work for you, but personally I wouldn't doubt so much until I tried (i.e. the LED in your device could also have a shorter wave length + non-standard imaging chip). Other than mixing your own, you can also purchase off-the-shelf polymers from spot-a-materials.com (tested up to 425nm, a bit more expensive, fair international shipping conditions) or from our US-pendant bucktownpolymers.com (almost all wavelengths, including 440nm and higher available, bit cheaper for large volumes, but international shipping conditions = nightmare).     weißt du, wie man ein gummiähnliches resin mischt?

      Damit habe keine praktische Erfahrung, weswegen ich dir da keine konkrete Emfehlung geben kann. Letztendlich benötigst du aber nur – statt z.B. dem 1,6-Hexanediol Diacrylat – ein Oligomer mit den gewünschten Eigenschaften. Die Polymerisation über den PI läuft genau so ab wie bei einem anderen Oligo- oder Monomer.
